The war brought not only the deaths of millions, but the invaders plundered a large percentage of the planet's natural resources, leaving the locals in a precarious situation. Not content with this, as a parting gift they released a mist-like existence that rendered uninhabitable those places they couldn´t plunder. This mist was known as the Zlovnos and had the ability to corrupt in one way or another everything that came into contact with it. Rivers, forests, mountains, flora and fauna, almost everything was lost or mutated into horrible creatures. This was the main reason why resources became scarce.
The decades following this event were marked by civil wars. Taking advantage of the chaos generated by the invaders, many cities declared their independence in an attempt to throw off the yoke of their regents. Unable to keep their populations safe or fed, they perished or fell into anarchy and were controlled by local gangs that would later become what are known today as the Razvyni.
These constant straggles led many citizens to leave their homelands and migrate from one city to another in search of a tomorrow. Those who survived this exodus formed the basis of what are known today as megacities or fortress cities because of the walls that surround them.
To compensate for the overpopulation caused by the waves of immigrants, gigantic buildings of between 200 and 250 floors had to be constructed, leaving each fortress with a population of between 400 and 500 million. The bulk of the citizenry lives in what is known as the commons sector which is the poorest area of the city. Following these is the merchant sector which is where the majority of services are located as well as the main health care centres for the population. In another part of the city is the barracks sector. This is where the various military forces and their families live. Finally there is the most prestigious and elite sector of society which is known as the Noble sector of the city. Unlike the common area, there are no mega high-rise buildings here. The buildings are built with the comfort of the inhabitants in mind, who enjoy all the comforts that money and power can buy. While this division is common to almost all megacities in Logov, the layout varies from one city to another.
Not all the inhabitants of a city live inside it. There are some unfortunate ones who, either because they were expelled from the city or because they were not allowed to enter, live outside the walls waiting for the day when they will be allowed to become citizens or regain their citizenship. These Kyverz are called Musorshik and the sector in which they live is known as the Slivno. This sector has no laws as it does not need them as the life expectancy of its inhabitants is very short. Lack of medical care and food is the main cause of death here, followed by death at the hands of some creature of the night. Food is obtained by hunting whatever they are lucky enough to find or by going through the labyrinth of tunnels beneath the cities to reach the waste processing areas. Despite its appearance, this method is one of the most dangerous, as without a map or an expert guide, it is very easy to get lost. On the other hand, this is not the only danger in this place, as there are creatures that have made the tunnels their home and are willing to marry anyone who dares to enter their domain. Despite this there are many willing to take the risk as sometimes the rewards are greater than one might expect. Another way to obtain fresh food or medicine is from the few merchants who choose to visit the Slivno. These traders have encouraged the more desperate Musorshik to search for lost technology, both in ruins that have recently come to light and in pre-war sites that even the Ithunzi would not have wanted to enter even though they are the force specialising in exploring ruins and recovering lost pre-war technology.
The government is centralised under the power of the Medestras (who are always female) who are the highest authority in each city. Below them are the nobles who have a council that represents them before the Medestra but which does not carry much weight when it comes to making decisions concerning the city, despite what they claim. Meanwhile, in the more marginalised sectors of Kyverz society, another political force has established itself. An independent government that rules from the shadows. This power would be in charge of dictating the laws and maintaining order in the sector of the commons because although there is a militarised force of order called Voldat 1 (V1), the truth is that its authority is not recognised by the inhabitants of this sector because they very rarely patrol this sector or attend an emergency call due to the immensity of the place. When they do come to a call, they sometimes do so to abuse their power and resolve the situation with an iron fist, or to extort money from the locals, either on their own initiative or on behalf of a local gang that has bought them off. There are some members of V1 who have tried to do the right thing and be impartial in their judgement but many of them end up dead.
As mentioned earlier, natural resources are scarce in Logov, so the economy is divided between self-sufficiency and trade. In the case of the latter, huge caravans travel from one city to another and to guard them there is another specialised military force called Voldat 2 (V2). The capabilities of these forces are different from those of V1, so there is always friction between the two. Unlike V1, V2 is trained both to fight the monstrosities that appeared in Logov after the war and to fight the pirate road gangs or Razvyni.
Technological development also suffered a major setback after the end of the conflict as much of the knowledge the Kyverz possessed was lost to time. The survivors of the invasion had to adapt to a post-apocalyptic world and while their technology is still based on cyber technology, it is more rudimentary and rustic than what they possessed in their golden age. Biomechanical implants are unsightly, makeshift, or in many cases, hardly functional. The recycling of organs and implants is commonplace in the most marginalised sectors. Fortunately for the Kyverz, the Zlobnos has begun to slowly shift after a millennium of dormancy, exposing buildings or small cities that once lay beneath its veil. The war brought not only the deaths of millions, but the invaders plundered a large percentage of the planet's natural resources, leaving the locals in a precarious situation.
