Functionality vs Appearance

Ixyku can be considered as immortal beings since their essence does not perish, they only change their body, although in this process they lose all the memories of their previous life, so each time they change their body it could be considered as a rebirth. In case an Ixyku's body is destroyed, its essence will travel to its Sikehbe guided by the bond it shares with its hive to obtain a new body.

Physically the Ixyku have shape but not a form as they are an essence contained within a silicon exoskeleton. Their exoskeletons are between 1.7 and 2 metres tall. They usually have a humanoid form, honouring the form they possessed before leaving their physical existence, but this does not prevent some from possessing less humanoid forms and being more functional. If for example an Ixyku has a stationary labour, its exoskeleton will not possess legs to move but may use some appendage for this function. Aesthetically the surface of their bodies has the appearance of hardened musculature accompanied by decorative shapes and figures which give them a certain sense of individuality. These patterns not only serve as a unique distinguishing feature among them but also help them to differentiate themselves from other hives.
